About department:
  • 1961: Vilnius branch of Kaunas Polytechnical Institute (KPI) was found.
  • 1964: Radio Engineering and Technology Department was found. Head - Zenonas Vainoris .
  • 1966: Radio Electronics Department separated from Radio Engineering and Technology Department.
  • 1969: Vilnius branch of Kaunas Polytechnical Institute was reformed into Vilnius Civil Engineering Institute (VCEI). Radio Engineering and Technology Department was left in Automatization faculty at VCEI. The department organised studies for evening department students.
  • 1987: Automatization Faculty at VCEI became the Vilnius Faculty at KPI. Studies according to the Radio Electronics study programme were organized.
  • 1990: Vilnius Faculty was joined to Vilnius Technical University and was named the Faculty of Electronics.
  • 1991: Radio Electronics Department was restored. Head - prof. Z.Vainoris.
  • 1991: Radio Electronics Department elected prof. S.Staras to be the head of the Department.
  • 2000: Radio Electronics Department elected prof. R.Martavicius to be the head of the Department.

    The key trends of research in Electronic Systems Department:

MODELLING, DESIGN AND APPLICATION OF THE WIDE-BAND ELECTRONIC DEVICES

  • Numerical analysis of acoustic signals
  • Modelling, investigation and application of the electrodynamic lines for wide-band electronic devices
  • Modelling, investigation and application of super-wide band retard and deflecting systems and signal tracts for the travelling-wave cathode-ray tubes and other wide-band devices

     The Department is looking for new research themes, partners and can render services and consultations on informatics, electronics, microwave technology, optical electronics, etc.

    Basic subjects of the Department:

    Fundamentals of Electronics, Signals and Circuits, Digital and Analog Circuits, Fundamentals of Electrodynamics, Microwave Technology, Electronic Measurements, Digital Signal Processing, Architecture of Computers, Fundamentals of Communication Technology, TV, Audio & Video Equipment and subjects according to specializations "Electronics and Telecommunications" and "Computerised Electronic Systems".

 
Laboratories:

    Laboratories of the Department:
   Fundamentals of Electronics, Signals and Circuits, Digital and Analog Circuits, Architecture of Computers, Microwave Technology, Transmitters & Receivers, Audio & Video Equipment, etc.
The Department also has laboratories for students from other faculties and Aviation Institute studying Fundamentals of Electronics, Signals and Circuits, and Digital Electronics.
